Azimuth, banker Lebedev launch SSJ100 business charter project

SOCHI, Feb 14 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Vnukovo International Airport, airline Azimuth, VEB-Leasing, and banker Alexander Lebedev plan to organize business charter flights on business-edition Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) planes, United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) and state development bank VEB.RF said in a joint statement on Thursday.

The planes will have up to 56 seats, and will carry officials from large corporations, sports teams, as part of concert tours, and other group transportation.

The companies are now to define financial parameters of the deal, the statement read.

“One and a half years of successful operations of Azimuth shows high demand for regional transportation in Russia. Vnukovo-3 is the largest center of business aviation in Russia and Eastern Europe with its own infrastructure. Our center of business aviation will easily provide comfortable servicing of flights and passengers of the new project, and it best suits airlines that work in the same segment of transportation,” Vnukovo’s co-owner and Azimuth’s owner Vitaly Vantsev said as quoted in the statement.
